It is only in the last 2 years that the hall committee has decided to change its focus from being a 'village hall for hire' to being a site where the woodland is its greatest asset. Since the change in focus, and the award of its regeneration grant from WREN, HVMH has started to come up with ways in which the woodland can be of greater benefit to the community.
We want to ensure the long term sustainability of the site by getting greater community buy in. We believe that having an ongoing project and a thriving friends group will help achieve this.
The Friends of HVMH will be a group of volunteers who can carry out the ongoing maintenance and conservation work needed in the surrounding woodland.
Professional mentoring would be provided to the Friends group by one of our partners, TESP. We also hope to be awarded funding to buy some equipment and training for the friends group to ensure the long term sustainability of the project.
Some of the work may be strenuous, but we won’t ask you to do anything that you may find beyond your physical abilities. We believe that everybody can contribute in some way or another.

HVMH will be hosting a volunteer day on the first Sunday of each month. The days start at 9:30am and we are usually finished by 1:00pm. Volunteers are welcome to come along for the whole session or just an hour or two. Follow us on our Facebook page and check back on this page for updates on forthcoming activities.
In return for carrying out some woodland conservation work you will be rewarded with a tea and snacks!
These sessions are being funded by The Woodland Trust Community woodland fund.
If you would like to book on please our volunteer coordinator Heather Shilliday via the contact us page.
Places will be limited.
