Crematorium Plans now submitted

New Crematorium plans for Hooton

We have become aware of an imminent planning application to build a new crematorium on Hooton Road, Hooton. The applicants have hired the village hall on 30th June and 1st July between 2.00 pm and 8.00 pm to present the plans to the public. They will have a number of easels set up around the room / outdoor area where people can come and view the planning proposals informally. We encourage everyone with an interest in the Hooton area to visit during these times.

Easter Egg Hunt 2019

This years Easter egg hunt took place at Hooton Memorial Hall on Easter Monday 22nd April 2019

There's no need to book a place for your little one on the hunt but please arrive nice and early. We will be open from 12:30 - 16:00.

The hunt is a trail through the woodlands finding clues and making a note of them on an activity sheet.

At the end of the trail, hand the sheet in to collect your egg and have a go at toasting marsh mallows over the campfire.

Adults are free of charge, children are £1.50, all children will receive a prize. Please let us know if your child has an allergy to regular eggs.

There will be alternative prizes if you can't face having any more Easter eggs!

There will be other stalls with plenty of fun and games along with hot food and a selection of drinks available.

Autumn Fair 2018

Our Autumn Fair returns to Hooton Village Memorial Hall on 23rd September 2018 12:30 - 16:30.

This year promises to be our biggest ever event. Our main attraction will be the apple pressing!

Join us for a hot drink and a toasted tea cake on Wednesday 17th May 10:00 - 12:00.

Join us within the halls grounds for an afternoon tea picnic on Sunday 16th July 2017 12:00 - 16:00.

Toasted Crumpets Morning 2017

On Wednesday 23rd August 10:00 - 12:00 drop in for a hot drink and toasted crumpet.

NEW Natural Play Area

On Monday 28th March 2016 we had the grand opening of our new natural play area designed and built by The Earth Skills Project (TESP), a local Community Interest Company.

The HVMH committee were awarded funding from The Big Lottery Fund to have a play area created within the community woodland.

TESP worked alongside the committee to design and build a play area that was in keeping with its environment and used locally sourced, natural materials.

The area has been developed with the intention to inspire children to play creatively and encourage positive risk taking.

The ribbon was cut by local children, keen to use the new play area. This was done in true TESP style using a chopping block, axe and maul (under supervision of course).

The aim is to encourage families to get outdoors and use this community woodland as it is a beautiful space which is currently underutilised.

Easter Egg Hunt 2016

On Monday 28th March Hooton Village Memorial Hall (HVMH) held a woodland Easter Egg Hunt in partnership with The Earth Skills Project (TESP), a local Community Interest Company.

Many families arrived for a fun day in the woods, despite the spring showers, armed with waterproofs and wellies!

As well as local stalls, light refreshments and children’s activities, this was also the grand opening of the new natural play area recently completed by TESP.
